SpongeBob wakes up and begins singing a Christmas Carol. All of SpongeBob’s friends are preparing for Christmas, and they join in his carol. At the Chum Bucket, Plankton is enraged that he gets a lump of coal in his stocking every year for Christmas. Karen tells him that if he hadn't been such a jerk, he just might get something for Christmas. Plankton pulls out a periodic table of elements and adds in extra one onto it, jerktonium, which is apparently capable of having the power to turn anyone into a donkey (except for SpongeBob, of course), and also serves as a trap for the citizens in Bikini Bottom. Plankton decides to lace every slice of fruitcake with Jerktonium, and give them to people to turn them into donkeys, so Santa will think Plankton isn't naughty after all and he will be able to get the Krabby Patty secret formula for Christmas.

Plankton leaves the Chum Bucket to begin giving people the fruitcakes, by dispensing these fruitcakes with his latest invention, which he refers to as the Jerkmaker 9000. SpongeBob instantly walks up and Plankton gives him a piece of fruitcake. The jerktonium, however, doesn’t affect SpongeBob anymore because he is immune to it, causing the device to malfunction, so Plankton gives him more fruitcake. SpongeBob eats all of the fruitcake, and Plankton is enraged when he realizes that nothing seems to work on SpongeBob because his plan is insufficient and a complete failure. He gives SpongeBob a key and goes back inside. SpongeBob spots some Christmas carolers and hands them each a slice of fruitcake. The fish experience the effects of [[jerktonium]] and transform into donkeys, which makes them very angry. Plankton comes out and notices that the jerktonium worked only on the residents of Bikini Bottom instead of on SpongeBob.

Downtown, every time SpongeBob begins passing out fruitcakes, the citizens transform into donkeys after making "jackasses" of themselves and begin to behave in an unacceptable matter. First, the citizens grow donkey ears and a tail. Then their heads turn furry with donkey hair, and their laughter becomes the braying of a donkey. Their hands and feet become hooves, before they lose their ability to speak (though some of the donkeys are able to talk) and are finally forced on all fours. The donkeys are rounded up by Plankton. The donkeys are inspected and those who cannot talk are stripped bare of their clothes if they still wear any before being put into crates, then taken back to the ferry that takes the Bikini Bottomites to the island. They are sold to salt mines, circuses, and other places for money.

Those who can still talk are kept behind until they have lost their voices or have to pull Plankton's stagecoach. It seems that the donkeys pulling the stagecoach are actually a group of citizens that used to be in Bikini Bottom before the events of the episode took place. Nevertheless, SpongeBob remains oblivious to these changes, and he continues to sing. Plankton rides through town on a unicycle, noticing the citizens wreaking havoc on the city and braying uncontrollably, and is delighted. SpongeBob tells her he got the food from Plankton, at which point she demands to know why and calls him an idiot. SpongeBob says he must be the biggest jerk in town because he ate a lot of fruitcake. The cartoon starts with Patchy inviting kids to come to his house for special news
he encourages the kids '''we all have global warming to stop it like Potty''
Potty is staying dry in his pool and Patchy decides to join in by saying ''Cannonball'' and he says that the pool is made out of oil
so he has to roll the cartoon
[[Eugene H. Krabs|Mr. Krabs]] has a car that spews exhust fumes through a giant chimney on top of the [[Krusty Krab]] to cause an "endless summer" so customers come to his year-round swimming pool behind the Krusty Krab (admission: $1.00). [[SpongeBob SquarePants|SpongeBob]] is enthusiastic from the idea and supports it by burning tires, and the carbon dioxide emissions significantly boost. After seeing tons of cars, after realizing his wax figures are melting, he realized that Bikini Bottom has become not only a hot wasteland, but an inferno. The sudden heat surprises Mr. Krabs, but many fish have come and Mr. Krabs is in the pool of water with SpongeBob. As he learns of Patrick, however, that everyone is leaving and are all moving north due to all the heat through the city, Krabs is horrified. SpongeBob makes a cannonball into the pool, but the water ends up evaporating and he hits the ground hard. All in [[Bikini Bottom]] people went, except [[SpongeBob]] and [[Mr. Krabs]] and the cartoon ends with Radio saying ''Help Stop the Endless Summer create your own ways to save the endless summer at stopglobalewarming.com''.

*The title spoofs the name from a 1966 movie of the same name.
*This is the first time of global warming in [[Bikini Bottom]].
*This episode is not part of the SpongeBob canon because in the end,the Bikini Bottomites evacuated the city and left.
*This is the only educational short.
*There is a book (which is also educational) with a plot similar to this. It is called "SpongeBob Goes Green".
*It is unknown if The Endless Summer is an episode from Season 4 or a part of the special features of Season 4.

The '''Skill Crane''' is a claw vending machine that [[Eugene H. Krabs|Mr. Krabs]] bought for the [[Krusty Krab]] from Vending Supplies. [[SpongeBob SquarePants|SpongeBob]] uses a secret to win every time. [[Squidward Tentacles|Squidward]] soon finds out this secret and goes nuts when he finally wins. Its only appearance so far is in the episode [[Skill Crane (Episode)|Skill Crane]]. It is not sure what happened to the crane after this episode. In the beginning of the episode, it's shown that you can buy a Skill Crane by from the company that sells Skill Cranes, and [[R. A. PennyPincher]], the seller who owes you a Skill Crane, will come in your house and bring it in!

===Design===
The Skill Crane looks like a regular crane game. If someone loses or wins in the game, it will announce it in a human voice. It holds stuffed animals that look like they're mainly for toddlers. SpongeBob's favorite prize from the Skill Crane is a stuffed bear named [[Beary]], and Squidward's prize was also a teddy bear which he named [[Teddy (Squidward's Teddy Bear)|Teddy]] but with a few minor differences. The base color of the crane is a dark orange and the joystick is a completely black handle. It has a coin slot and a big slot where the toys come out. If you don't get the toy, it will say ''YOU LOSE!'' or ''LOSER!'' and laugh, but if you get a toy it says ''WINNER!'' or ''YOU ARE A WINNER!''.

It was revealed near the end of the episode and it was also obvious that Mr. Krabs had benefited well buying the Skill Crane. It used up 10s of thousands of Squidward's quarters although SpongeBob benefited well because he won every single game. It was unknown of the price to buy the Skill Crane. It can give Mr. Krabs lots and lots of money, and Mr. Krabs received more than double of 3,499 quarters from Squidward. That will be more than $877.25 times 2: which is more than $1,754.50(that's a lot of money to spend for Squidward). Squidward had spent a lot of money - even the deed to his house! - on the [[Skill Crane]] for just a teddy bear! The Skill Crane appears again in Five Nights at Spongebob's
