== Plot ==
It is now Springtime in [[Bikini Bottom]], Patrick emerges under his rock wearing a purple sweater...Patrick strips the sweater and buries it under the sand like a dog would. Here's a narration from the episode:

NARRATOR: ''"Ah, springtime in Bikini Bottom. All sea creatures have an innate sense of the seasonal changes. Like the starfish. A quick survey of his environment and he knows that…"''

PATRICK: ''"It's spring!"''

NARRATOR: ''"The starfish then sheds his winter coat and stores it away safe for winter."''

SpongeBob comes out of his house and begins to greet the flowers after stating that he has Spring Fever. Squidward emerges from his home as well, and after some convincing from SpongeBob, he too says hello to the flowers. The flowers react like an aggravated cat, hissing at Squidward, causing him to run into his house screaming. SpongeBob says he shall do him a kindness and plant him some hypo-allergenic flowers.

Cue SpongeBob wearing a gardening outfit, including a sun hat, overalls, and clogs. He first plants a coral flower, and turns to grab the watering can to water said flower only to turn back around and find the flower bitten in half. He continues this routine of planting flowers and turning his back until he states, ''"I'm not taking my eyes off you."'' Three days later, he still has not moved his eyes, and in fact has to water them because they have dried out. Patrick walks by and draws SpongeBob’s attention – SpongeBob turns back, and the flower is gone again. SpongeBob finally sees the seahorse, which has been eating the flowers, which then runs away and starts neighing on top of a rock.

He decides to tame her and writes a scientific journal of sorts about her mysterious qualities, and hence names her Mystery. The seahorse spots SpongeBob’s floral bookmark and approaches him. Apparently eating the book mark was enough to tame the seahorse, as the show switches to a montage with 60's psychedelic backgrounds of the two of them frolicking together, enjoying piggy back rides, painting, blowing bubbles, and even going to the hat store...

At the end of the day, SpongeBob lets the horse sleep in his bed and promises that they will be friends forever. The next day, he rides past Squidward on his bike - which hits a rock sending Squidward off a cliff and into a massive explosion. Once arriving at the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob ties up Mystery outside like in old western movies. Then, Scooter arrives with his friend, mistaking Mystery for a kiddie ride. As he finds a quarter, he tries to look for it, saying, ''"I can't find the coin slot. Here it is!"'', and Mystery kicks Scooter and into a massive explosion. ''"YAAHH! Help! Kiddie ride on the loose!",'' screams Scooter's friend. Mr. Krabs runs to the scene and is shocked. ''"A monster! Scaring away me customers."'' He demands that the horse be gotten rid of because he is scaring off the customers stating, ''"It’s either you or Mystery."''

SpongeBob has Mystery shoved in a cupboard, and tells her that she only needs to stay there until Patrick finishes the stable he asked him to build – Cue a shot of Patrick with a board nailed to his forehead sitting with a blank look on his face. SpongeBob starts to go back to his job, with only eight more hours in his job left. ''"Only eight more hours,"'' says SpongeBob.

Twelve seconds later, Mystery peers out of the cupboard, and SpongeBob tells her, ''"No, Mystery, you can’t come out yet. If old man Krabs sees you, I’ll lose my job."'', and knows that he's hungry. ''"How about some lunch?"'', says SpongeBob and Mystery eats a Krabby Patty, but then he neighs, and then SpongeBob warns him, because Krabs has heard it, and asks, ''"Is that horse here?"'', and SpongeBob says, ''"No, Mr. Krabs. I was just doing my imitation of Mystery"'', and he does a fake, pathetic neigh. ''"Well, keep working on it. That was terrible!"'', said Mr. Krabs, and he walks out, and SpongeBob is relieved and he says, ''"That was close. And from now on, no more hijinks."''

''"Order up!"'' Squidward comes to the window, but Mystery eats the order before Squidward gets there. SpongeBob thinks that the Krusty Krab is haunted, and before SpongeBob can leave, Squidward says, ''"SpongeBob, there's no ghosts!"'' ''"Oh"'', says SpongeBob. Squidward starts lecturing SpongeBob; meanwhile Mystery is stealing customers’ orders from their tables.

Here's his lecture as it follows:

''"In case you’ve forgotten, here’s how things work. I order the food, you cook the food, the customer gets the food. We do that for forty years and then we die. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, what do you say?"''

Squidward then sees Mystery as SpongeBob puts Mystery back in the cupboard yelling, ''"Don’t tell Mr. Krabs! I got it all under control! Now then, you were saying"'', and Squidward says, ''"Just get my order!"'' and he walks out. And SpongeBob laughs and says, ''"Ghosts."''
Mystery eats SpongeBob’s hat, [[spatula]], all of the [[Krabby Patties]], the stove, and old man Jenkins. And from Mystery's stomach, we hear ''"I don’t want to be a burden."''

The customers get aggravated and start to revolt. Then Squidward says, ''"Folks, we have a minor situation going on in the kitchen"'', and a man asks him, ''"Where’s our food?"'' Another man yells, ''"I’m so hungry!"'', a woman says, ''"This is my only lunch hour!"'' and Tom asks ''"Where’s Old Man Jenkins?"'' Then, Squidward says, ''"Take it easy, the food’s no good here anyway."''

This causes Mr. Krabs to come out and ask Squidward ''"Squidward, what is going on here!"'', to which he replies, ''"Why don’t you go ask Cowbob RanchPants and his faithful companion Sir Eats a Lot?"''

Mystery belches up old man Jenkins, apparently after getting a bellyache because of eating all the Krabby Patties. Mr. Krabs walks in, and thinks he is seeing things, but he isn't and demands that the horse be gotten rid of, and SpongeBob pleads with him not to be gotten rid of. ''"No, Mr. Krabs! Don’t make me give up Mystery! I know you think she’s just a horse, but she’s more than that, I tell you. She listens to me. She understands everything I say and I understand her! She’s my best friend!"'' Mr. Krabs is touched by the story and continues on to tell SpongeBob about the story of his best friend, Krabs says ''"I was five years old and me father gave me a dollar. I loved that dollar, loved it like a brother. Me and that dollar went everywhere together."'' Then SpongeBob asks, ''"What happened to the dollar, Mr. Krabs?"'' Then Krabs answers, ''"And one day at the beach, it was so hot and I was so thirsty! I spent it on a soda. My best friend!"'' and starts to weep. After regaining his composure he states that ''"The kitchen is no place for a life horse!"'', which causes the customers spit out their food.

SpongeBob takes Mystery outside and tells her, ''"You belong in the wild."'' He turns his back on her and the horse walks away and he says, ''"Well, what're you waiting for? Can't you see I don't want you anymore?"'', and when Patrick walks up, still with the board on his head from earlier, he says, ''"Just get out of here, you stupid dumb animal!",'' and he walks away, and he says, ''"Well, she's gone, and I'll never see her again."'' And then, Mr. Krabs comes up and says that he did the proper thing. ''"She’s free now. And we have no right to separate that wild animal from its natural habitat."'' Squidward interrupts the conversation to let Mr. Krabs know that the safe is empty, because Mystery had an after dinner salad: all the money in the safe. '''''"GET THAT HORSE!!!"''''' screams Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs go running after Mystery into the horizon.

The episode ends with Patrick trying to get into the hat store, but can't because the board on his head from earlier is too wide to fit through the door.

==Trivia/Goofs==
*The title is a pleased reference to the popular toy (and TV!) line, My Little Pony.
*Squidward calls Mystery Sir Eats A Lot, a parody of ''Sir Lancelot'', a famous character from King Arthur's tales.
*Mystery is voiced by [[Frank Welker]].
*How can Mystery eat the money in Mr.Krabs' container if she was in the kitchen for most of the time?
*And how did she get the combination for the lock?
*Squidward makes reference to his bad karma throughout the show in this episode, almost breaking the fourth wall. Also, his biking accident is very similar to the one in [[Jellyfishing (Episode)|Jellyfishing]].
*Running Gag: [[SpongeBob]] changes every time the camera goes back to him in the montage of Mystery eating the book. (featuring the mustache)
*If this episode takes place after March 6, 2017, shouldn't Squidward have been frozen in the freezer?, it is possible this episode takes place afters Squidward returned to the present time, of course he did fall out the door frozen.
*How do you explode when you fall? Maybe if you fell hard enough, you explode, but that's impossible to explode when you fall.

(The Krusty Krab at night. The lights are still on) 

French Narrator: Ah, the sea. So wonderful. So wet. So one night, while Bikini Bottom the whole town is sleeping except for Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob, they always exit the Krusty Krab. 

Mr. Krabs: Come on SpongeBob, it's quittin' time. (the lights turn off and Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob walk out) I've got a card game tonight. (he locks the doors) 

SpongeBob: Who're you playing cards with, Mr. Krabs? (we see the Chum Bucket across the street, with its lights still on) 

Mr. Krabs: I'm going over to the Chum Bucket to play with Plankton. (SpongeBob gasps) 

SpongeBob: (Gasps) Plankton! (a thought bubble appears over SpongeBob's head with Plankton inside) But Mr. Krabs, he's your arch-enemy. (he picks up a Krabby Patty) He's been trying to steal the Krabby Patty formula for years. (the Plankton in the thought bubble sees the Krabby Patty and goes to get it, but SpongeBob swats him with a fly swatter) 

Plankton: Ouch. (the thought bubble disappears) 

SpongeBob: Why would you play cards with him? 

Mr. Krabs: Between you and me, Plankton is the worst card player in Bikini Bottom! (cut to him and Plankton holding cards and a giant stack of money on the table) Why, I've been taking him to the cleaners every Thursday night for fifteen years! (Mr. Krabs puts his cards down on the table and rakes in his money with his claws. Back to the present, Mr. Krabs' eyes have turned to dollar signs) I never lose! (the two start laughing and walk off their separate ways.) 

French Narrator: The very next morning, I wonder what would happen to attract SpongeBob for PLankton for his scheme....

Mr. Krabs: (Sobbing)

SpongeBob: Taking him to the cleaners, that a hot one! (Mr. Krabs leans against the Krusty Krab doors) How'd the card game go last night, Mr. Krabs? 

Mr. Krabs: I lost. 

SpongeBob: Barnacles, Mr. Krabs. How much money did you lose? 

Mr. Krabs: I didn't lose any money. (he sheds away a tear) I lost... 

SpongeBob: Don't tell me you lost the Krusty Krab! 

Mr. Krabs: I lost... (SpongeBob grabs him) 

SpongeBob: Mr. Krabs, please tell me you didn't lose the Krabby Patty secret formula! 

Mr. Krabs: I lost... (he points to SpongeBob) you! 

SpongeBob: What? 

Mr. Krabs: I bet your contract and I lost. (SpongeBob stares blankly, then laughs) 

SpongeBob: Good one, Mr. Krabs. Well, I got to go make those Krabby Patties. (he begins to walk to the door, but Mr. Krabs' claw stops him. (after continually walking and getting nowhere, he falls to the floor) 

Mr. Krabs: I'm afraid you don't work here anymore. (Squidward runs out the door to the two) 

Squidward: Please tell me this isn't a joke. 

SpongeBob: Go on, Mr. Krabs. Tell him. Tell him all about your cruel, sick joke. (Plankton walks over) 

Plankton: As much as I love cruel, sick jokes, I'm afraid he's not joking. (he points at SpongeBob) You work for me now, SpongeBob! (he whips out a bucket with the initials "CB" on it) Time to put on the official Chum Bucket bucket helmet. (Plankton jumps on SpongeBob's head, kicks off the Krusty Krew hat, and puts the bucket on his head. SpongeBob screams and runs to Mr. Krabs, knocking Plankton and the bucket off) 

SpongeBob: But Mr. Krabs! I don't want to work for him! (he tugs at Krabs' shirt collar) I want to work for you here at the Krusty Krab! (he and Krabs start crying loudly and hug) 

Mr. Krabs: I'm sorry, boy! It's all my fault! 

Plankton: (sobs) What kind of cold, heartless person would break apart such a loving relationship? (he whips out a crowbar) I would! (he jumps up and uses the crowbar to pry SpongeBob off Krabs. SpongeBob goes flying with Mr. Krabs' arms still clung to him) 

Mr. Krabs: SpongeBob! 

SpongeBob: Mr. Krabs! (he slams into a cage and Krabs' arms fly off him. Plankton walks over and shuts the door) 

Plankton: This is your greatest blunder, Krabs! For 15 years, I’ve been throwing those card games just waiting for you to slip up! I may not have the precious Krabby Patty formula but I’ve got the next best thing: the guy who makes 'em! (a propeller emerges from the cage) I'm gonna run you out of business, Krabs. (the propeller spins and pilots SpongeBob into the Chum Bucket) 

SpongeBob: Mr. Krabs! 

Mr. Krabs: SpongeBob! (he cries) Can I have my arms back? (Plankton walks over and throws the arms on Krabs' head. Cut to the cage hovering over a spotlight and dropping SpongeBob into it) 

French Narrator: So the next day. 

SpongeBob: What is this place? (the lights turn on and screens with wires and gizmos start starting up. Sponge gasps. A giant boiler turns on. SpongeBob yelps. A light turns on and a calendar entitled "Science!" appears and the photo of the month is some nerd in front of a blackboard. Sponge screams. Plankton bursts open the doors) 

Plankton: Okay, I'm ready for my Krabby Patty! (he walks over to SpongeBob) 

SpongeBob: Actually, uh, Mr. Plankton, sir, I haven't, uh... 

Plankton: Perhaps you don't understand. You work for me now (he jumps onto SpongeBob's knee) and as your new boss, I command you to make me a patty this instant, or I'll be forced to remove your brain and implant it in my robot chef! (we see a giant robot that bares a slight resemblance to SpongeBob) So get cooking. (he twangs SpongeBob's nose. Later, SpongeBob is in front of a weird looking grill. He picks up a spatula with a spring end. He puts his fingers to one of the holes in the grill and steam bursts from it. SpongeBob screams. He looks at a digital sign reading "KITCHEN") 

SpongeBob: The sign says kitchen, but my heart says Jail.

(Song)

SpongeBob: A stove is a stove, no matter where you go.

Mr. Krabs: A patty is a patty, that's what I say.

SpongeBob: A grill is a grill, this is surely so,

Mr. Krabs: And fries should be fries, either way.

Plankton: You got it! (Plankton brings a grill into the Chum Bucket) Well it wasn't easy, but here it is! One old frying grill. How about we try it out? 

SpongeBob: (gasps) Uh, it's just that I'm used to the grill facing that way. 

Plankton: Say no more, I'll take care of everything. (Plankton pushes the grill) How about here? 

SpongeBob: A little more to the left. 

Plankton: How's this, SpongeBob? 

SpongeBob: Move it over a little more. 

Plankton: Here? 

SpongeBob: Keep going. 

Plankton: Here? 

SpongeBob: Almost! That's it, just a little more...perfect! Right there! I don't know, it still doesn't feel right. (Plankton gasps) 

Plankton: (cut to a blindfolded SpongeBob) Just a few more steps, SpongeBob. Okay, go ahead, take it off! (he removes the blindfold) It's an exact replica of the Krusty Krab kitchen! 

SpongeBob: It is an exact replica! Here's the sink, the greasy fryers, the squeaky floorboards, and that thing! One Krabby Patty coming up, Mr. Krabs! (his face turns sad) (wailing) Oh...Mr. Krabs! 

Plankton: Don't cry, SpongeBob! I'll show you it's much better working for me! Is there anything that old skinflint Krabs wouldn't let you have? 

SpongeBob: Well...there is one thing I've always wanted... (cut to SpongeBob with some fancy vibrating shoes on) Wow! 

Plankton: So now do you have everything you need to make some Krabby Patties? 

SpongeBob: Well... (cut to SpongeBob in a bubble bath, eating pistachio ice cream) 

Plankton: You ready to make some patties? 

SpongeBob: Wait till I finish my ice cream! (cut to SpongeBob riding a toy car, with Plankton pushing him) 

Plankton: (while pushing him) How about those patties? 

SpongeBob: Faster! Faster! (cut to Plankton reading to SpongeBob a baby book) 

Plankton: And then the littlest sea-elf said...(drool drops on Plankton. SpongeBob is sleeping. He wakes up) Huh? Steady, Plankton! It's all gonna pay off soon enough. Hey there, sleepy head, what do you say? 

SpongeBob: (yawns) All this preparation is making me hungry. 

Plankton: Me too. You know what would really hit the spot? Why don't you whip us up a couple of Krabby Patties? 

SpongeBob: Mmmm...I'm kind of in the mood for tacos. 

Plankton: (laughs) Good one, SpongeBob. But really, why don't you go ahead and make us a patty? 

SpongeBob: (yawns) No, I don't really feel like it. 

Plankton: But I don't understand. You have the grill, and the spatula, and the comfy chair. I rubbed your putrid feet! I command you to make me a patty this instant! 

SpongeBob: No! 

Plankton: Don't back sass me!

SpongeBob: Do ba da ma!

Plankton: What!? That's it, mister! You just lost your brain privileges. (cut to Plankton outside of a lab) Finished! SpongeBob, come in here! Or should I say RobotBob SpongeChefPants...(to the audience) I put his brain in the robot, you know. You shouldn't have been a spoiled brat. You see, I always get what I want, and I want you to make me a Krabby Patty!

Robot SpongeBob: (Beeping)Dee dee, doodle dee di do. Response: Why don't you ask me later? 

Plankton: What? What!?

Robot SpongeBob: Get welded. (Walks away)

Plankton: Wait! I command you: make me a Krabby Patty! 

Robot SpongeBob: I don't wanna. (Drinking oil)

Plankton: Ah! 

Mr. Krabs: (cut to the Krusty Krab) Well, young boy, this looks like our final chapter. (holds up an "Out of Business" sign) Huh? 

Plankton: (crying) I can't take anymore. You've gotta take that yellow nightmare back! It's not worth it. I'm better off stealing a Krabby Patty fair and square. 

Mr. Krabs: Um...Well... (taking off the "Out of Business" sign off the doors) a deal's a deal, Plankton. He's your headache now. 

Plankton: Oh, please, have mercy, Krabs! I'll do anything! I beg of you! 

Mr. Krabs: How 'bout... you give me fifty bucks, I'll take him off your hands. 

Plankton: It's a deal! I cheated anyway.

Mr. Krabs: Now, be gone with you, you puny pest! (Mr. Krabs throws Plankton back inside the Chum Bucket)

Plankton: Thank you! (a crashing sound is heard) Ouch. 

French Narrator: The next morning, SpongeBob came back to work.

SpongeBob: My brain and I are glad to be back, Mr. Krabs. 

Mr. Krabs: Glad to have you back, lad. Now get to those patties! The lunch rush is a-comin'!

'''Eugene Harold Krabs''', better known as simply Mr. Krabs, is a fictional character on the [[Nickelodeon]] animated television comedy SpongeBob SquarePants. Eugene H. Krabs is the penny-pinching owner and founder of The [[Krusty Krab]], a fast food restaurant in Bikini Bottom. In his childhood, he formed a friendship with Sheldon J. Plankton which eventually turned into a bitter rivalry. He's the 4th main character of the show. Eugene lives with only Pearl, suggesting that he may be separated or divorced. It is more likely that Krabs is divorced, because he had a short relationship with Mrs. Puff in [[Krusty Love]].

==Early life==

Eugene H. Krabs was born November 30, 1942, along with [[Plankton]], and is the son of [[Mama Krabs]] and Victor Krabs, and grandson of Grandpa Redbeard Krabs. When Mr. Krabs and Plankton were in Poisedon Elementary, Mr. Krabs was teased because of his clothes were made out of the dumpster. After meeting a wealthy man, [[Stinky]], they decided to open their own restaurant in the dump. But after [[Plankton]] gets a piece of the formula of their own, so some ingredients collapse and make the most Tastiest Patty in the Sea, calling it the "[[Krabby Patty]]". Eugene succeeds indeed, making [[Plankton]] jealous wanting to steal the formula. (As learned in [[Friend or Foe? | Friend or Foe? (Special from Season 5)]])

==Rivalry==
Sheldon J. Plankton, born on the same day as Krabs, was his best friend from birth. While at the carnival, Mr. Krabs was amazed at a penny he found, when Plankton told him all about money. In the episode "[[My Pretty Seahorse|My Pretty Seahorse (Episode from Season 3)]]", Mr. Krabs told SpongeBob of a story about his father giving him a dollar at the age of five years old. He recalls that he loved that dollar; however, he spent it on a soda, one hot day at the beach.

===Rivalry with his Class===
Because of his family's poverty, Krabs was teased at Poseidon Elementary School, where Plankton was his only friend. The only place to get a burger in Bikini Bottom, was Stinky Burger, which was owned by a wealthy citizen, [[Stinky]]. Krabs and Plankton wanted to get a burger there but Stinky did not like them hanging around his restaurant. After seeing Stinky's wealth, this inspired Krabs and Plankton to create their own burger. When they finally completed it, no one was around to buy it. Upon seeing Old Man Jenkins there, he was the first to try the "[[Plabs burger]]". However, the burger tasted horrible and Jenkins got knocked out. This caused Plankton and Krabs to argue about the burger. Plankton attempted to steal the formula, which ripped in half. Plankton took their burger batch and decided to go into business alone. A shelf in their dump restaurant collapsed, which combined certain ingredients together to form a perfect burger batch. Both Plankton and Krabs attempted to sell their separate creations separately, where only Krabs succeeded. Since the recipe is said to be an old Krabs family recipe, Mr. Krabs' accidental recipe for a burger patty combined with his family's secret sauce. This lead Mr. Krabs to start a business which lead his family out of poverty. Mr. Krabs and his family lived in a pink house where Betsy Krabs lives in the present and his bed and toys.

==Personality==
Eugene H. Krabs has always been a penny-pinching financial genius, and is obsessed with money. He once sold Spongebob to the Flying Dutchman for 62 cents. He has given his employees a bill instead of pay because they kept goofing off (such as breathing, standing, or tying ones shoes). Once, he wanted his employees to pay him when they did things such as lollygagging, breathing, and even existing! He also attempted to retrieve a dollar (or the fragments of it) after it had been put through a blender. In Welcome to the Chum Bucket, he has a good singing voice.Mr.Krab's nose is also very,very,very,very sensitive and can smell up to anything that he detests.According to Hooky, he can smell 30,000 miles of laziness. Also, he has made the Krusty Krab's employee law that no one should take a break at the Krusty Krab up to 3 generations. Mr .Krabs also has no insurance, life insurance, car insurance, or hospital insurance as revealed in The Lost Mattress because he's a very, very greedy and cheap man who never likes to spend his money.

Mr. Krabs' career began after a war, where he was secluded in a deep depression that seemed endless. He bought a pirate ship and became a pirate but then sold his ship and bought a local bankrupt retirement home, "The Rusty Krab," which he decided to turn into a restaurant, adding a K to "Rusty". He decided to go into business selling his family's Krabby Patty burger. It was revealed to be a family secret in "[[Dunces and Dragons | Dunces and Dragons (Special from Season 4)]]." and it was [[King Krabs]] who named the burger, back in the Middle Ages. In 1959, a chum famine wiped out all of the chum crops, causing Krabs to give no breaks to his employees.

The [[Krusty Krab]] has come close to going out of business due to such rival restaurants as the aforementioned [[Chum Bucket]], Pretty Patty stand, and [[KelpShake]]s just to name a few. The building is also in serious disrepair, as its walls ooze green slime, and it has seriously faulty electrical wiring. Mr. Krabs' idea of maintenance is to simply place giant bandages on cracks in the walls, which obviously is inadequate. Also, in one episode, only half of the Krusty Krab is lit and other is in the dark (Krab's reason was that he shouldn't need to light the entire restaurant).

An Olympics-type sporting event that was started about 1981, called The Fry Cook Games, runs every year. Krabs and [[Plankton]] compete in the games, in which Krabs hopes to glorify his restaurant. Mr. Krabs won gold one year for a challenge by lifting a pickles-dumbell, however lost to Plankton in the Onion-Ring Routine.

In the [[SpongeBob]] Squarepants movie, Mr. Krabs opened [[The Krusty Krab 2]], right next to the original burger stand, where [[Squidward]] is chosen to be the manager (much to SpongeBob's dismay)... that is until the end of the movie, where SpongeBob becomes its manager.

Krabs sometimes identifies himself as a sailor, most likely because he did serve in the Navy at one point and he's from a pirate dynasty. The Navy was where he earned the tough manly nickname "Armor Abs Krabs". During his service, he was the chief janitor on the S.S. Gourmet and "head chef" on the "S.S. Diarrhea". Sometimes when he appears onscreen, sailor's music is played; Krabs uses sea-faring vocabulary; he calls his staff his 'crew', and the disagreement as 'mutiny', calls the bathroom the head while his laugh is also appropriate ('Ar 'ar 'ar 'ar 'ar'). In contrast to his namesake, Krabs is something of a miser; he is known to go insane if he has to give up so much as a penny. In "Born Again Krabs", he gave SpongeBob up to the [[Flying Dutchman]] for only sixty-two cents, but repented later. When customers leave the restaurant because they do not like the food (which is usually due to SpongeBob or Squidward's inaccuracies), he uses catchphrases - these include "That's me money walkin' out the door!", or "There's gonna be a few changes around here!"

However, he's a caring and thoughtful crab; he appreciates his employees, SpongeBob SquarePants and Squidward Tentacles (who help keep his restaurant afloat), dotes on his daughter, [[Pearl Krabs]], and in one episode, he found his second love (after money), Mrs. Puff (in "Krusty Love"). Mr. Krabs' arch-rival and somewhat friend is Sheldon J. Plankton, the owner of rival restaurant The Chum Bucket across the street from his establishment. Plankton later shot his former best friend through grief and revenge. He has a mother, Mama Krabs, who lives in a near identical version of his anchor home, except it is pink. His address was also revealed to be 3541 Anchor Way. Mr. Krabs tries to keep it cheap when purchasing anything, even though he's the richest crab in the ocean, which often results in Pearl becoming extremely disappointed in her gifts, such as on her 16th birthday or the infamous Squeaky Boots. Mr. Krabs also owns a pet worm named "[[Mr. Doodles]]" as seen in the episode "As Seen On TV" and "Sandy's Rocket". It is also shown in the episode Mid-Life Crustacean that he can extend his arms to great distances to collect items. Even though he's a cheapskate he will not use anything but the best ingredients in his Krabby Patties and is against them being manufactured probably since the Secret Formula is his pride or he just realizes that if he uses cheap ingredients people will stop coming.

At work, SpongeBob daydreams of living with the [[jellyfish]]. He accidentally starts a fire, and a fireman runs in and turns on the hose. SpongeBob is in the way, thus fills up with water and falls on the fire, putting it out. After Mr. Krabs scrapes SpongeBob off the grill, he asks SpongeBob why he was not concentrating, and SpongeBob explains that he wishes to live in the wild. Mr. Krabs thinks he is joking, until SpongeBob walks out. SpongeBob then gives Patrick mayonnaise, old phone books, and his special jellyfishing net, "Ol' Reliable". He even takes off all his clothes.

SpongeBob tries to fit in with the jellyfish, but is continuously shocked (literally) by them. Patrick is furious at SpongeBob’s decision and tries to catch him while jellyfishing. Nothing seems to persuade SpongeBob to come home, until he is bitten by poisonous sea urchins (they appear to be the underwater equivalent of mosquitoes). He decides to come back home, and everyone welcomes him back. Then, he puts on his clothes again and everyone hugs him (Squidward is forced to). The bacteria causing the itchiness spreads, and everyone becomes itchy, except for SpongeBob.

* After SpongeBob leaves, Squidward and Sandy try to guess how much days before he comes back. Sandy guesses a week, but Squidward guesses 11 minutes. This is a reference to approximately how long an average episode is. Squidward would also make a reference to this in the episode ''[[Club SpongeBob]]'' and a fish would do the same thing in ''[[Missing Identity]]''. Despite the fact that ''[[Pat No Pay (Episode)|Pat No Pay's]]'' not 11 minutes long, this happens a fourth time when SpongeBob says, "He [Patrick] needs one [a Krabby Patty], or he'll keep mumbling about it for the next 3 and 1/2 more minutes."
