Holographic Meatloaf
"Holographic Meatloaf" is a dish seen in the episode The Algae's Always Greener. It is prepared by Karen for Plankton and may be the only meal she knows how to make, as indicated by Plankton's displeasure at seeing it: "Oh, goody. Holographic meatloaf again!"
Given that it is a hologram, the nutritional value of the meatloaf is unknown. However, many real-life planktons gain energy from sunlight, like plants do. Considering how advanced Karen is, creating a hologram of UV rays is not too far-fetched. As we have seen Plankton (the character) "eat" things other than light in other episodes, odds are this is a more enjoyable way for him to use photosynthesis (gaining energy from sunlight).
Looks
Holographic Meatloaf simply looks like a live-action meatloaf hologram, which is strangely edible. Yet, Plankton's fork always goes right through it, and creatures don’t really eat it.
Trivia
- It is indicated as Plankton's favorite, as at the end of the episode, he says "Holographic meatloaf...my favorite!" (for he has just gotten back from an annoying day at the Krusty Krab).
- Plankton eats this with a can or cup of soda.
