This is the final episode of any SpongeBob-related series to air before the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes, which saw the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) go on strike (the WGA begun its strike on May 2, within hours of this episode’s premiere, and SAG-AFTRA followed suit on July 13, with the strikes ending on September 27 and November 9, respectively); the labor disputes would heavily affect the television industry (including almost all daytime and late night topical programs employing WGA writers, which broadcast only reruns from May 2 onward (most such shows didn’t return with new episodes until early October) and the fall network television schedules, which resorted mainly to unscripted programs or acquisitions from other outlets (scripted programs didn’t return until midseason, mostly during 2024). For example, Nickelodeon’s sister network CBS resorted mainly to shows originally made for other Paramount Global-owned outlets.
