Fisherman 4: Revenge of the Hook is a horror movie which appears in the episode Don’t Look Now. It is the movie that SpongeBob and Patrick watch. After they watch it, Squidward dresses up as the titular villain to scare them.

[edit] Plot

Not much is known about the plot, but from the clips that are shown, a child and a teenage fish are dragged to the surface (and essentially killed) by an otherwise unnamed fisherman who uses the hook on his fishing rod as his "weapon" of sorts and strikes at midnight. The child presumably gets caught by the mouth (though this is only heard) while the teenager, who apparently can’t get the name of his girlfriend, Jennifer (the only fish who is given a name in the film), right (even saying "Goodbye, Margaret!" as he’s dragged up by the Fisherman) gets caught by his pants and dragged to the surface, witnessed by Jennifer. The only other clips shown are the film’s title card, lightning striking and a "The End" card.

[edit] Trivia

  • It is a parody of slasher films.
  • There may have been three movies with the Fisherman before this, since the title is Fisherman 4.
  • The film is rated "S" for "Scary." The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), as it was known as when the episode premiered, has no "S" rating in real-life (the ratings used by the MPAA, since 1990, have been "G" (one of the four original ratings in the system, dating back to the system’s introduction in 1968), "PG" (introduced as "GP" in 1970 and given its current moniker two years later), "PG-13" (introduced in 1984), "R" (also one of the four original ratings in the system), and "NC-17" (introduced in 1990); two other ratings, "M" (replaced by "GP" in 1970) and "X" (replaced by "NC-17" in 1990 and not trademarked by the MPAA) were part of the original ratings lineup as well), though this was obviously intended as a joke, presumably to make clear that it’s a horror movie.
    • The film is also preceded by a parody of the MPAA’s "green band" card used for trailers stating clearly that the film had a "S" rating (in real-life, the MPAA uses a "blue band" card at the end of theatrical films to explain the specific film’s rating (home video releases since as early as 2000 typically have such a card before the film), while the "green band" card is placed before most movie trailers; "yellow band" (for internet-hosted trailers) and "red band" (for trailers containing content that wouldn’t be shown in a "green band" trailer) cards have also been used to precede specific trailers).
  • Notably, this is the only horror movie in the SpongeBob franchise that is confirmed to have been theatrically released; it’s unknown if any of its predecessors were released theatrically, direct-to-video, or were TV movies (though it can be assumed that they might have also been theatrical releases).
