The Lineman

"3 The Lineman" (Original Title: The Lineman) also known as "Forearm Shiver," was composed by Sam Spence. It is used as the theme for Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy episodes. It was originally used in the 1960s as the theme music for NFL Films highlight videos. The main instruments being played in the piece include a baritone saxophone, drum set, other brass instruments, other saxophones, a timpani, and a bass. It is frequently used during a fight - preferably with Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy.

• Between "Shuffleboarding" and "Mermaid Pants," it took more than 7 and a half years for this track to return.
  • Similarly, between "Man Ray Returns" and "Movie Stars," it took another 6 years for this track to return.
• The song is used as the backing sample for "Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy."
• This track was also used for two non-SpongeBob shows:
  • It is played in The Simpsons episode "The Twisted World of Marge Simpson."
  • It is used in a promo for the Dora the Explorer episode "Super Spies 2: The Swiping Machine."
• As of 2025, this track has been removed from APM Music.
  • However, it does appear in The Cosmic Shake.
